Unified Investigations & Sciences is adding a licensed electrical engineer in the Detroit, Michigan area. We are a national firm and we provide engineering and technical services to the insurance industry. We respond after catastrophic property damage or personal injury occurs and determine how and why it happened. Sometimes, we examine damaged equipment to determine the extent of the damage and to recommend repairs. Occasionally we determine the objective facts when the facts surrounding an event might have been fraudulently misrepresented.
Prior experience in forensic engineering is not required for this position. We can teach you the unique aspects of our business. We need someone with an accredited degree in electrical engineering, who is licensed to practice engineering in the State of Michigan by examination. We need someone with a good personality who can form opinions and make decisions efficiently. We value engineers with a broad background because our assignments can involve anything from a kitchen toaster up to a large industrial facility. Specific experiences in failure analysis, equipment operation, maintenance, manufacturing, overhaul, design and/or construction are all pluses.
In our business, we interact with people of all walks of life and obtain information from them. We also have to clearly explain our findings to non-technical people. That is why the engineer we are looking for must be able to write and talk about technical information using plain, jargon-free English.
The results of our investigations have a substantial personal and economic impact on the people involved. Our engineers must have unquestionable ethical standards and must tell only the objective truth in their dealings with others.
Our projects are short compared with traditional engineering businesses and typically require one to three days of effort, spread over a few weeks. Naturally, each engineer has several active projects going on at the same time and has to be able to complete projects on a timely basis in the face of multiple demands. Our engineers are given wide autonomy to schedule their own working hours and projects. They spend a lot of time in the field and day trips occur frequently. However, overnight stays occur less than once a month on average and multiple day outings are rare.
We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. In addition, Unified has a bonus program that pays each employee a sizable fraction of the profits he or she generates.
